The “Coop-a-Cabana” is now open! Flown in last weekend, the chicken coop now houses 12 specially bred egg-laying hens! Guests can now visit the coop, located in front of the store, to collect any eggs in the laying boxes.

You are welcome to leave some treats for the hens to eat, but please follow the food guide, posted on the door. We have more happy hens on the way so there will be plenty of eggs for everyone to enjoy.

We are currently making a few final touches and awaiting the delivery of outstanding features, like mirrors and TVs, to make the space completely perfect.

Charging ahead!

The new solar field addition is progressing very nicely, with some major new developments happening this week. We just installed five huge batteries on the floor of what will be the new solar plant building. These things are MONSTERS! The size of a shipping container and weighing 36 tons each, we had to bring a giant crane on the cay just to move them into place.
Here’s some techy info for those into that sort of thing:
- 5 CATL EnerC+ battery containers
- 36 tons / 72,000 pounds each
- 20.37 MWh of total energy storage capacity (5 × 4.073 MWh)
- 10.18 MW of instantaneous discharge capability (5 × 2.037 MW)
- 20,800 lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells — each container contains 4,160 individual battery cells, working together as one system
- Approximately 180 metric tons (about 396,000 pounds) of battery storage equipment installed
The new solar field is filling up fast with all the new panels. Once complete, we will have an additional 13,776 solar modules organized into 574 strings of 24 panels each, connected to 28 inverters that convert the energy into usable power. This is in addition to the current field of around 8,000 modules / panels. This will create by far the largest and most powerful solar field in the Bahamas, with a total of 11.7 MW of capacity. Long story short... your lights won’t be going out anytime soon!!!
Busy building

Lots of progress has been made on the four demo homes being built. Foundations are complete and walls are going up! Feel free to drive past and have a peek. These homes will demonstrate 4 different sizes and designs, so potential buyers can choose their ideal island home. For more info contact Ilianna Spychalla, our resident realtor: ilianna@bettermcrbahamas.com.

We've also broken ground on the new boat storage units. These will run along to the north of the existing units (see the mock-up) and we expect completion early 2027. Contact Natalie Forbes for more info on renting or purchasing a unit: nforbes@chubcay.com.
