Chub Cay is a private island club. Arrival is by prior arrangement: contact the marina and obtain written permission before entering. Transient vessels are welcome at the fuel dock and may clear Bahamas customs here, daily 7am–7pm, subject to those procedures.

The clubhouse and the pool are for members. Other facilities are open to property owners who are not members on their own terms, and to visiting vessels to the extent set out on Transients & Visitors. Property owners who are not members should see Property Owners.

A reservation is held on a deposit. To cancel without losing the deposit, you must cancel more than 72 hours before your arrival. Cancel inside that window, and the deposit is forfeited.

Cancellations must be made by email to info@chubcay.com. The time your email arrives is the time we go by, so a call to the marina or a word to the dockmaster does not cancel a booking on its own — send the email as well.

Arrival is taken as 3:00 pm Bahamas time on the day you are due to arrive, whatever time you actually reach the island. So the deadline is 3:00 pm three days earlier: for a Saturday arrival, cancel by 3:00 pm on the Wednesday.

We will not hold you to that deadline where the island could not be reached: a named storm warning in force for the Berry Islands, the airport closed, or the crossing graded poor on our marina page for your arrival day — wind above 18 knots, seas above 4 feet, or a northerly against the Gulf Stream. Tell us as soon as you know, and we will move the booking or hold the deposit as a credit.

If you do not arrive and have not cancelled, the deposit is forfeited in full. The weather provision above applies to a no-show as well — if the island could not be reached, tell us, and we will treat it the same way.

If you leave before the end of a booked stay, what happens depends on what you booked. A slip is not charged for the nights you do not use — cast off when you like. A room, villa or cabana is charged in full: it was held for you and cannot be filled at a day’s notice, so the unused nights are not refunded.

Weather is the exception to that. Where the conditions above apply to your departure — a named storm warning in force for the Berry Islands, the airport closed, or the crossing graded poor for the day you leave — tell the dockmaster or the front desk before you go, and we will hold the unused nights as a credit. Leaving early for any other reason, however good, is not refunded.

Anything else about your booking — the deposit amount, the balance, and any terms particular to a slip, a room or an event — is as confirmed with you when you book.

Prices quoted on this website exclude 10% VAT unless stated otherwise. Fuel is priced per gallon before VAT; a convenience fee may be added to credit card transactions, as stated on Fuel Prices.

Chub Cay is a working marina on a remote island. Swimming, boating, diving, snorkelling, fishing, watersports, cycling and the use of golf carts are undertaken voluntarily and at your own risk. You are responsible for judging your own fitness and competence for an activity, for anyone in your care, and for the supervision of children at the pool, on the beaches and around the docks.

Vessels, vehicles, equipment and personal belongings are brought to the island and left at the owner’s risk. We are not responsible for their loss, theft or damage except to the extent it is caused by our negligence. Golf carts and bicycles must be operated in accordance with club rules and applicable law, and the person hiring them is responsible for their use.

Services on the island — power, water, internet, fuel, transport and air and sea access — can be interrupted by weather, sea state, supply or equipment failure. We are not liable for the consequences of an interruption outside our reasonable control.

To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, our liability arising out of your visit or your use of this website is limited, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost travel, accommodation or charter costs. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

You are responsible for your own travel, medical, evacuation and vessel insurance.

Chub Cay is a remote island. Medical facilities are limited and serious cases are evacuated to Nassau or Florida. Visitors are responsible for their own insurance and evacuation cover.

The photographs, text and marks on this site belong to Chub Cay or are used with permission, except Instagram content, which remains its author’s — see our Privacy Policy.

Live figures on this site — fuel prices, island power readings, wind and sea state, aviation weather — are published in good faith and may be out of date or unavailable. They are not a substitute for the official forecast, a pre-flight briefing, or confirmation from the marina on VHF 68.

These terms are governed by the laws of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

If a dispute arises between us, we ask that you raise it with us first so that we can try to resolve it. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms, your visit, or your use of this website that we cannot resolve between us will be referred to and finally settled by binding arbitration seated in The Bahamas and conducted in English. The arbitrator’s award is final and binding on both of us.

Either of us may still apply to a court for urgent interim relief — for example to stop a vessel entering or remaining in the marina without permission — without that being a waiver of this clause.
