Privacy Policy

Enquiries you send us. If you use the membership or contact form we receive the details you type — typically your name, email address, vessel details and your message. We use them only to reply to you and to manage your enquiry.

Public Instagram content. Our homepage shows a rotating gallery of photos that Instagram users have chosen to make public and have either tagged our account (@chubcayresortandmarina) or posted with our hashtag (#chubcay). Through Meta’s Instagram Graph API we receive, for each such post: the post ID, caption, permalink, date, like and comment counts, and the image. Where Instagram makes it available (tagged posts) we also receive the poster’s username so we can credit them; Instagram does not provide usernames for hashtag results, so those posts are shown as “#chubcay”. We keep a copy of the still image so the gallery keeps working after Instagram’s temporary image links expire.

Public Google reviews.We display reviews of Chub Cay that reviewers have posted publicly on Google, via the Google Places API, including the reviewer’s public name and profile initial.

Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and reliability. We do not run advertising trackers or sell data.

Nothing appears on the site automatically. Posts retrieved from Instagram are placed in a private, password-protected review area that only Chub Cay staff can see. A member of staff decides which posts are shown publicly. Every displayed post links back to the original on Instagram, and we never alter captions or images.

If a post of yours appears on our site and you would like it removed or credited differently, email info@chubcay.com with the link to the post; we will take it down within two business days. Deleting the post on Instagram, making it private, or removing our tag/hashtag will also stop it being retrieved in future syncs.

We do not use the information for advertising, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers who host the site and supply the data (Vercel; Meta Platforms for Instagram; Google for reviews and maps), each acting under their own terms.

Enquiry details are kept for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any resulting relationship. Instagram post records and cached images are kept while the post is eligible for the gallery and are removed on request or when staff archive them. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under their retention schedule.

You may ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. See our data deletion instructions or email info@chubcay.com. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under local law; we will honour them.

The public site does not set tracking cookies. A single functional cookie is used only when Chub Cay staff sign in to the private review area.

This site is intended for adults planning a visit or membership. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
